Darcy is a small, long-coated Chihuahua mix living in Santa Rosa, CA. She’s an adult female who isn’t house trained yet and hasn’t been spayed. Her vaccinations are up to date. Darcy weighs about 12 pounds and is awaiting her chance at a permanent home after her puppies are weaned.

About Darcy

Darcy came into rescue just in time—within a day of arriving, she delivered six healthy puppies safely, surrounded by care. At about 12 pounds and only a year and a half old, Darcy herself is barely out of puppyhood, yet stepped right into motherhood with a gentle, patient attitude. She arrived in need, abandoned and pregnant, but thanks to a dedicated transport team, she didn’t have to give birth in a crowded shelter. Now, she’s getting the rest and attention she needs while her puppies nurse and grow strong. Once Darcy has weaned her babies and received her medical clearance, she’ll be ready for adoption. At this stage, she isn’t house trained, but she is adjusting steadily in a safe foster environment. She’ll need some continued support as she moves into a home of her own. Once her job as a mama is done, Darcy can focus on being someone’s loyal companion. She’ll be available for adoption in about eight weeks, and each of her puppies will be listed for adoption separately as they’re ready. Darcy is in Santa Rosa, CA and looking for a fresh start. Questions about Darcy

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Darcy is a Chihuahua mix, and like most Chihuahuas, she adapts well to indoor living and smaller spaces. A cozy apartment or quiet house where she can feel safe suits her best.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Chihuahuas like Darcy do not need much outdoor space. Regular leashed walks and a few safe places to explore are usually enough.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Chihuahuas can do well with respectful, gentle children. Darcy may need time to adjust, so a home with older kids who understand boundaries is ideal.
