Meet Alimae (ACCT-A-249685)! This handsome fellow is looking for a patient and loving home where he can truly shine. Alimae is a bit of a sensitive soul who appreciates a gentle approach. When he first arrived at the shelter, he was a little unsure of his new surroundings, but he has shown that he is eager to make friends once he feels safe. Shortly after arriving, meeting another dog helped Alimae loosen up. He has even been known to show off his vocal side with some classic "husky talk". In playgroup, he showed a lot of interest in other dogs. He is curious and wiggly, though he is still learning his social boundaries. He would likely thrive in a home that can help him work on his manners and build his confidence through positive reinforcement. He is such a very good boy! Easy to leash and walk! So playful in the yard, even in the rain. Ran around, had some zoomies and as usual absolutely loves being pet! He also gives the best hugs! Per volunteer 5/21 : i took Alimae out again last night. He is such a good dog for sure. He is easy to leash & walk. He seems to be higher energy and loved running in the yard. Played fetch with the ball and loved sitting with me getting pets all over! Very affectionate and in tune with his handler. He will need house training with going to the bathroom. Per volunteer 5/19/26: I took Alimae out last night. He was very easy to leash & walk, he loved running around in the yard, and sitting by me being pet. He had a good fence meet with another dog walking by. He returned easily to his kennel for me. He was a joy to take out Per staff 5/13, playgroup: Steer test: 3/5 with water and 1/5 with can. Loose and wiggly at the fence, began to husky talk and paw at the door. Came into the yard quickly and immediately tried humping Pinky who at the time was the only female in the yard. Even with her moving away and staff steering he was persistent. Removed from the yard. Per staff 5/9: Kennel Presentation: Laying in the bed when I approached his kennel. Soft eyes with furrowed brow and ears forward. Tossed a few treats which he ate. Leash Skills: Need time and coaxing to leash up. When I presented the leash and had to step on foot in he flinched. Once leash was on, he need light leash pressure to come out of kennel. Walking down the row he back to buck back on the leash while whining. We went back to his kennel and he sat right at the front. I crouched down and softly called him over. He came out of the kennel and walked all the way outside. Sociability: Brought out for a dog meet. Did not do much anything. When I attempted to touch his hind end he flinched. Dog Interaction: Met Lilac. Body loosened and tail came up into natural position. Curious. Tail middle. Sniffing.
