About Roxy

Roxy ACCT-A-235072 is an approximately 1-year-old spayed female Lab/Husky mix who was brought into ACCT as an owner surrender on 5/9 after life changes left her previous family unable to care for her. In her former home, Roxy lived harmoniously with cats, children, and other dogs, and her prior owners noted that she is "very sweet and loving" and "loves cuddles and kisses and hugs." In the shelter setting, ACCT staff have observed that Roxy is fearful and shut down, keeping towards the back of her kennel with wide eyes, tucked tail, and furrowed brow. Roxy would benefit from a calm, quiet environment where she can relax and get back to her old self! When I first approached her kennel, she was hard barking at me. Then when I did some baby talk she stopped barking and became very loose. When I opened the kennel door, she had a loose body and allowed me to leash her on the first try. She is cautious walking out of the kennel with a bit of a crouched body. Out in the yard, she absolutely melted in my lap. She laid down right in front of me and went directly for belly rubs. She's a super sweet girl and seems to be pretty submissive. Took pets from me all over and took treats very gently out of my hand, although she's not overly motivated. No issues returning to kennel! Per Staff 5/15/2026: Roxy was laying on the bed when I approached her kennel. She did a low bark and then came to the front of the kennel, I spoke softly to her and her tail began to wag. When I opened the door she retreated back to the bed. I called her name softly and she slinked over to me, submissively rolled on to her side and I was able to leash her up. Came right out of kennel, walks on a loose leash. In the yard she stayed by me, jumping up soliciting for pets. Rolling on her back and accepting pets. Easy to return to kennel and removed leash with hand. 5/12 Behavior Waiver ACCT Philly has noted the following behavior(s) with this pet.
