About Lexie
Lexie is a five-year-old spayed female German Shorthaired Pointer who brings that classic GSP spark to daily life. She’s an affectionate, playful dog with a big personality and a knack for snuggling—her foster family reports she’ll happily burrow under the covers, as any true pointer should. Lexie bonds quickly and wants to stay close to her people wherever they go, often following along with her tail wagging. Lexie is great with kids and thrives on attention and affection, especially from teenagers who visit her foster home. She’s active and bird-obsessed, patrolling the backyard and getting a real kick out of chasing anything with feathers. Her foster is helping her channel that energy through long line training and introducing her to more relaxed downtime so she doesn’t feel she always needs to be on alert. Lexie is smart, attentive, and happiest with a job or task. She currently lives with other GSPs and is making progress learning to adjust to new canine companions, though she can be a little cautious at first. At dog parks and in neutral spaces, she does well meeting other dogs. Her foster is working to build her confidence and smooth these introductions. She has shown some mild resource guarding with the adult woman in her foster home, so an adopter comfortable reading dog body language and maintaining training boundaries is a must. Lexie is crate trained, knows several commands, and understands house manners, though she can’t resist a good counter surf if the opportunity arises. She experienced some understandable stress with recent transitions but adjusted after a few days. Lexie wants a family that appreciates a fun, loyal, sometimes goofy pointer who thrives on companionship, structure, and plenty of activity. Every animal deserves a happy ending.
