About Oscar
What are you waiting for? Apply today! Oscar, a German Shorthair & Hound mix born in May 2015, is an outdoor enthusiast who truly comes to life in nature. He’s still seeking a loving home where his playful, goofy personality and love for exploration can be embraced. Oscar forms a special bond with people, especially women, but understands that sometimes everyone needs their own space—a quality that is especially important since Oscar deals with anxiety and relies on respectful boundaries to feel comfortable and secure. When Oscar is feeling relaxed, he delights in chasing balls, sticks, and even the occasional rabbit. Long walks that let his hound nose lead the way are his favorite, and regular exercise keeps his nervous energy in check. Because Oscar loves to explore, a secure fenced-in yard is required to keep him safe close to home. Oscar is not kennel trained but is perfectly content lounging around the house when you’re away, and he’s already housetrained for your convenience! This clever boy knows several commands including “sit,” “stay,” “lay down,” and “leave it,” and he’s motivated by yummy treats to show off his skills. His ideal home will be with an active person or couple who appreciates adventure and also respects his independence and need for set boundaries. Oscar does best as the only animal in a household, as he prefers to be the center of your attention and does not get along with other cats or dogs. A fun fact: Oscar is a Taurus, which means he’s likely to enjoy life’s comforts and stick loyally by your side once he trusts you. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
