Jareth
AvailableJareth is a small, male chihuahua mix with a short black and chocolate brown coat, currently residing in Hilton, NY. He has been neutered and has received all current vaccinations. Jareth is not yet house trained and still adjusting to routines after his rescue. He gets along well with other dogs and is looking for a patient adopter to help him continue to grow.
About Jareth
Meet Jareth. He survived a hoarding situation with over 50 other chihuahuas, arriving filthy, underweight, and completely overwhelmed. Since then, he’s made steady progress: gentler, gradually more trusting, but still needs a home with patient people who understand the work of helping a traumatized dog adjust. Jareth adores cuddling once he feels safe and will happily contort himself for belly rubs. He always wants his humans in sight, though he hasn’t quite realized he can follow from room to room yet. Stairs baffle him, and walks aren’t his thing—he prefers lounging on the couch, content just to relax with someone he trusts. Jareth does well in a doggy pen overnight or when left alone and would probably be comfortable transitioning to a crate if needed. He’s lived peacefully with multiple dogs and gets along with both adult men and women in his foster home. Potty training is a work in progress: he doesn’t know how to alert anyone yet but improves on a steady bathroom schedule. Leash walking is new territory for him—he’s braved the fenced yard, but busy sidewalks would be a real stretch at this point. If you’re looking for a dog who will reward your patience with plenty of goofy moments and gentle affection, Jareth could be a great fit. He’s come far, but his new family must be ready to help him work through fear and uncertainty at his pace. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Jareth
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Chihuahuas like Jareth generally do well in smaller living spaces, such as apartments or modest homes, especially when they have a quiet environment. They appreciate having a cozy space to retreat to and often bond closely with their humans.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Jareth, being a chihuahua mix, doesn't require much outdoor space and is happy with a small fenced yard or regular access to safe, contained outdoor areas. Walks can be brief, as many chihuahuas are content to explore at their own pace and some may prefer staying indoors.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Chihuahuas like Jareth can be great companions for adults and older children who understand how to interact gently. They can be nervous around loud or unpredictable young kids, so calm, gentle families are the best match.
