About Max
Max is a red and black young German Shepherd Dog with a personality that’s truly too big for his frame. At about 1-2 years old, he’s all about affection—if you’re looking for a shadow who’d rather be in your arms than anywhere else, this is your dog. He’s not much for toys; being with you is what matters. Max came in as a stray after his previous owner declined to take him back, but he’s dropped any trace of grudge and is ready to give his whole heart to someone new. He aced his behavioral assessment, happily sharing food, comfortable with all kinds of handling, and sociable with both male and female dogs he met. Max gets along well with other dogs and loves people—he’s yet to meet a stranger. His foster notes say he settles in quickly, bonds fast, and is crate trained for a few hours at a time, though he’d always rather stick close. Max needs some work on manners, especially with jumping and counter-surfing, but he’s eager to learn: he already knows basic commands and responds well to positive training. He’d do well as a single dog or with a canine buddy. Max needs an experienced adopter and a home with a fenced yard, plus someone ready to give him the exercise and structure he craves. He brings an abundance of energy, smarts, and loyalty to the table—plus, you can expect to get a lot of love. Your new best friend is just one click away.
