About Sweetie Pie
Sweetie Pie is an 8-year-old spayed female Husky on the lookout for a calm, understanding home where she can settle into her golden years. After losing her longtime owner, she was briefly cared for by a family member, but another move forced her return to the shelter. All the upheaval has left Sweetie Pie overwhelmed and skittish. During the confusion of surrender, she gave a minor, fear-based bite—no serious injury—which is important to know, as she struggles with trust and new situations. Once she feels safe, Sweetie Pie shows her gentle side—quiet companionship is her favorite, and she’ll curl up right beside you, happy for some calm affection. She’s not quick to warm up, but patience is rewarded with a deeply loyal, loving dog. As with most Huskies, she’s considered a flight risk and had never been leash-walked before coming to the shelter. Staff are working on her leash skills and she’s making steady progress, but she’ll need continued, careful training and a home committed to safety. A securely fenced yard would suit her especially well. Sweetie Pie will thrive in a peaceful, patient environment with adults who understand timid dogs and will give her space to decompress. If you have another dog, a meet-and-greet is essential. Sweetie Pie has been through a lot and deserves a fresh start with someone willing to lift the fear and show her lasting stability. Sweetie Pie, being a Husky, benefits from a good-sized, securely fenced yard to roam and exercise safely. Apartments can work if she gets plenty of walks and security.
