About Peeta

Meet Peeta! This giant, goofy lovebug comes wrapped in an 85-pound Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix body. At just over 2 years old, Peeta is equal parts playful, affectionate, and hilariously oblivious to his own size. He and his sister, Katniss, were left to fend for themselves, which made the world feel overwhelming at first. When Peeta arrived, he was timid and unsure of people, but patience, snacks, and another dog’s company helped him slowly come out of his shell. Peeta still needs time when meeting new people and prefers slow introductions, but if you have treats, you’re already halfway to his heart. Once he knows he’s safe, his sweet nature surfaces—suddenly you have a silly, playful friend who bounces around like a giant puppy. Peeta gets along with every dog he’s met and does best with another confident canine buddy. His playfulness is big, so older children who can respect his boundaries would suit him best. Public walks or outings can feel intimidating for him, so a calm home, routine, and lots of positive reinforcement are key. He isn’t the type to rush into your arms, but once Peeta trusts you, his affection runs deep. Currently, Peeta is in Houston, TX, and transport to most states is available for an extra fee.
