About Gary

Gary is not your standard Chihuahua. He’s part sunbather, part couch potato, and one hundred percent devoted companion. At 8 years old and weighing just 8 pounds, he’s the perfect blend of playful and mellow—zoomies included, with his signature back-leg kicks. Gary will follow his person from room to room, sleep in the big bed like royalty, and stash himself where the sun hits the floor. He lives for cheese and always has a nose for snacks, though he’ll trade it all for a patient person willing to let him bond in his own time. His background hasn’t been the smoothest; he lost his home and was bounced between places before landing in rescue. As a result, Gary is sensitive, a little anxious, and doesn’t like being picked up unless absolutely necessary. He needs a calm, adult home—young kids and lots of commotion are not his thing. Gary can be wary of new people and might nip if rushed. He’ll bark when left alone, but settles when you’re back. Vet visits require extra patience and sometimes a muzzle. Gary does get along with other dogs as long as they respect his space. He’s fully housebroken, crate trained, low shedded, and keeps barking to a minimum (unless left solo). He knows a few basic commands and has a gentle nature once settled. Gary has a luxating patella, heart murmur, and a history of possible seizures, but these health quirks haven’t slowed him down. He takes daily fluoxetine for anxiety. He’s looking for a quiet home with a gentle routine, a sunny spot to nap, and someone who gets that some dogs are once-in-a-lifetime companions.
