About Wavy

Wavy was an owner surrender to the New York Animal Care Centers here in NYC. It's the city's municipal shelter. Wavy's owners didn't like his nippy behavior (HE WAS A PUPPY) so they discarded him like a piece of trash. He was nervous and frightened at the scary shelter but was nothing but a perfect gentleman with everyone even the volunteers. He took treats delicately and allowed all handling. His time was coming to an end and we wanted to save him but needed a foster. A wonderful woman stepped up to the plate and saved his life. He is now looking for his forever home. These are WAVY'S STATS Approximate age: Approximately 1 years old Approximate weight: 45 lbs Breed(s): Husky Mix Spayed or neutered? Yes Good with: • kids? Yes, best with an active home. He can get a little jumpy when he’s excited, but it’s all enthusiasm. • strangers? Extremely friendly. He basically thinks everyone is his new best friend. • other dogs? Great. He’s playful and already has solid dog social skills with a resident dog, just needs proper intros. • cats? Yes. He currently lives with a cat and coexists really well with a structured setup. • on leash? Does well overall, but he will pull if he spots wildlife because he has a strong prey drive. • housetrained? Yes, fully reliable with a consistent routine. • crate trained? Yes. He settles in his own space just fine. Meet Wavy, The Ultimate Adventure Partner Wavy is a 45 lb Husky mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He bonds fast with people and really just wants to be part of whatever you are doing. He is the perfect mix of let’s go do something and I am good to chill too. He loves walks, rides great in the car, and is always ready for an outing. In a fenced yard, he lets loose with zoomies and patrol duty like it is his full-time job. Indoors, he settles well and understands downtime when things are structured. He is already house-trained and crate-trained, and he does great living with both dogs and cats when there is routine and guidance. Because he is young and still learning impulse control, he will need someone patient who will keep working on basics with him. He is super treat-motivated and picks things up quickly. Wavy is looking for a home that can match his energy but also provide leadership and structure. If you want a loyal shadow, a goofy best friend, and a dog who is always down for an adventure, Wavy is your guy. Wavy needs an active, experienced home, ideally with a fenced yard. He does best when life has structure, clear boundaries, and daily outlets for both his brain and body. Another dog would be a great fit, and he can live with cats as long as the home maintains a balanced, structured dynamic. Wavy is your built-in adventure buddy. He is an excellent car rider and is totally down for errands, including Home Depot, where he will happily chill like he pays rent there. Outside, he is full Husky mode with zoomies, yard laps, and patrol duty against squirrels and deer. Inside, he settles nicely in his designated spot once he is in the groove. He is also very quiet overall and not a big barker, but if he really wants something, he will get chatty and let you know. It is more conversational than barking. He is still young and high-energy, so he is working on polishing up his manners. When he gets excited, he can be a bit jumpy or mouthy, but he responds well to training and food motivation. He just needs consistency and someone willing to keep reinforcing boundaries.
