Meet our sweet angel girl, #Nola Nola recently found herself here at the shelter after her owner could no longer care for her. At around 7 years old and 40 lbs , on the smaller side, this beautiful girl is trying so hard to understand how her whole world changed overnight. One day she had a home, a routine, familiar smells, and a family… and now she’s sitting quietly in a kennel surrounded by loud barking and so much uncertainty. And honestly, that transition is so incredibly hard on dogs who came from homes. This shelter is very full, loud, and overwhelming. When dogs first come onto the adoption floor, they are often stressed, confused, and overstimulated. We cannot truly see their full personalities right away because many of them are simply trying to survive the chaos around them. That’s why we always say it takes time to truly know these dogs. It takes decompression, patience, and kindness for them to feel safe enough to show us exactly who they are. We want to set them up for success. We want to see them succeed with their new family because that is what they deserve. So please… help us help them. Even through all of this, Nola remains nothing but sweet. She is very quiet in her kennel and is still decompressing and learning that we are now her new family for the time being. She listens so well, walks beautifully on a leash, keeps her kennel clean, and already knows how to sit and shake. She is calm, loving, and just wants kindness and reassurance. We have not officially dog or cat tested her yet, but we feel she would likely do best with older respectful children so we can help set her up for success in her next home. Nola deserves more than shelter walls. She deserves a soft bed, peaceful nights, and someone willing to love her through this difficult chapter of her life.
