Avril is an adorable young Chihuahua looking for a loving home. She weighs just under 8 pounds and is estimated to be around 8-10 months old. Avril came to our rescue from a hoarding situation in Connecticut. She is still very young and puppy-like. She's playful, energetic, and full of personality. She loves chasing toys, zooming around the house and yard, and playing both independently and with other dogs. She loves walks! Avril is a sweet, spunky little girl who will make a wonderful companion for a family looking for a fun-loving Chihuahua mix. Avril has a mild neurological condition that presents as resting nystagmus, meaning her eyes may occasionally dart or twitch back and forth. She also has some difficulty with spatial awareness and can become disoriented when being picked up, which may cause her head to roll back and her eyes to move rapidly for a few moments. She still enjoys being held and will climb on your lap, but we recommend that anyone picking her up do so slowly, so she can adjust comfortably. Her condition may be congenital, meaning she was probably born this way. Most people who meet Avril don't notice she has neurological symptoms, and her condition does not stop her from enjoying life to the fullest. She behaves like a typical happy, rambunctious puppy and approaches the world with curiosity and joy. We are unsure if these issues will become worse over time so continued vet visits will be important Avril is scheduled to be spayed next month, is up to date on vaccinations, and recently had full blood work.
