Otis has been waiting in the shelter now for almost TWO years! And we don't understand why. He's such a great dog! Otis first arrived stray back in 2019, was adopted, then surrendered back to us in 2024 and has been waiting for his furever family ever since. Time has grown and so has our love for Otis. He is a staff and volunteer favorite. Sometimes he seems wary of strangers, but once he knows you, he will show you how much of a loving, fun, silly boy he is. He has met other dogs, but he doesn't enjoy the company. He prefers to be the one and only. Although, he doesn't react much to dogs in passing. In Otis' previous home he was able to free roam with no issues inside of the home, even though he is crate trained if needed. And here at the shelter, he often stayed in an office during the day, often by himself, with no problems. Otis LOVES car rides and is very calm and quiet as he watches the scenery. He enjoys playing with squeaky toys! He does love chasing small animals like squirrels and rabbits! Foster update: Otis is such a happy boy who is obsessed with his human. When we take a walk he will pull just a tad but eventually loves walking by your side enjoying the views having to stop and pee obviously lol. His favorite past time is being in between your pillows watching you waiting to join him to cuddle. When meeting new people he needs his treats but warms up nicely. Had people come into his space not knowing them and again does well with food! He even met a 1 year and did so well but still prefers to be with older people. He is an aggressive chewer/player so tough toys are his favorite with squeakers. He recently received a big dinosaur that's about half his size and he'll toss it up in the air catching it and chewing at its feet as there's squeakers in all of them. While the crate is still a work in progress (it makes him a bit nervous), he's learning slowly that it can be a safe, cozy place. I haven't had any accidents with him being free to roam. As weeks have gone by he's calming down a bit more and is super excited to have you home again! He has definitely been through a lot and you can tell he's finally learning how to be a dog.
