The people who were supposed to love you, protect you, and keep you safe. For poor Kai, the beginning of his life was a nightmare. This sweet boy came to us completely shut down. Covered in scars and clearly hurt by other dogs over and over again while the people around him did nothing to protect him. No dog should ever have to live in fear like that. And somehow… Kai is still gentle. He’s still sweet with people. He still loves other dogs. He even likes cats. Despite everything he’s been through, Kai just wants to feel safe and loved. He’s starting to come out of his shell, and watching him learn that kindness exists has been both beautiful and heartbreaking. He deserves a family that will show him what love is supposed to feel like. A family that will spoil him, protect him, and never let him be hurt again. Kai would absolutely thrive in a foster or adoptive home, especially with another friendly dog to help continue building his confidence. More than anything, this boy just needs someone to choose him. To show him that the world can still be good.. Kai is a 1 year old Boston/Bulldog mix and he weighs 45 lbs. ADOPTING A DOG Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older). If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match. We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend.
