We'll have several wonderful dogs there looking for homes! ——————— SunBear didn’t come to us knowing people could be kind. This sweet girl was a frightened stray who had to be trapped because she was just that scared of the world around her. When she first arrived, she completely shut down. She kept to herself, unsure if she was safe… unsure if anyone would hurt her. But little by little, SunBear is starting to let her guard down. She’s discovering soft voices, gentle pets, cozy beds, and that maybe humans aren’t so scary after all. Watching her slowly peek out of her shell has been something really special. SunBear is incredibly gentle and has never shown any aggression. She just needs someone patient enough to let her move at her own pace and show her what love feels like. Another friendly dog in the home would help her so much — she takes comfort in having a canine buddy nearby and learns by watching them. She also has a large scar on her back, likely from a reaction to over-the-counter flea prevention before she came to us. It’s fully healed now, but it’s a reminder that life hasn’t always been easy for her. The best things in life take time… and SunBear is going to be one of those dogs. The kind that slowly learns to trust you, follows you room to room, and loves you with her whole heart because you were patient enough to help her feel safe. SunBear is a 1 Year Old Australian Kelpie Mix and she weighs 41 lbs. ADOPTING A DOG Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older). If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match. We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend.
