Marley found his way into rescue after his previous owner went through a divorce and faced strict housing rental limits that couldn't accommodate a dog over 20 pounds. Marley arrived at 106 pounds and after only two weeks in foster care with a healthy diet and steady exercise, he's already trimmed down to 100 pounds. What Marley's Foster Family Says: Marley is remarkable in just how affable a dog he is. Marley wants to (1) be loved (2) be everybody's friend (3) go on walks. Marley rewards his people by just waiting around for these simple needs to be met. Your shoes are safe. Your countertops are safe. Squirrels in the park are safe. Cats are safe (Most likely, still waiting for final evaluation). Marley is not as food motivated as you would assume for a labrador of his girth, so your fingers will be safe too. Marley is an easy dog to love, and the only thing aggressive about him is his snoring. If your wardrobe is primarily dark colors, invest in fur rollers, but if you only wear khakis, it will be safe as well. If there is anything which causes him to be anxious, I have not witnessed it. Marley also takes corrections really well. If another dog finds his overly friendliness overwhelming and snaps at Marley, he does not escalate, and backs off the new dog. What Marley’s Rescue Rep Says: Meeting Marley, I came upon a very friendly and happy big dog. He welcomed all over petting. He was unfazed by obnoxious dogs barking at him through the fence, happily greeted and sniffed other dogs (big and small). While his previous owner reported Marley will often try to hump other dogs, we didn't see this but we also didn't let him off-leash. He was very strong on leash, pulling you along on his mission to sniff and explore. With a front clip harness, he was much more manageable. We'd like Marley in a home where he will receive lots of love, attention, and exercise. We'd prefer a home where he won't be left alone for long periods of the day, and one committed to making him a part of the family. Marley was raised around children and had two human kiddos in his previous home, ages 3 and 5. Marley is housetrained. Medical. Current on vaccinations, heartworm tested (negative) and will be neutered. Marley is currently located in San Jose.
