About Duke
Duke is a 4-year-old, large German Shepherd with a gentle soul and a playful streak. He enjoys couch snuggles just as much as backyard adventures, believing he’s as much a lap dog as he is a guardian. Duke is house trained and crate trained—he happily brings toys into his crate, sleeps through the night, and settles well once his people leave (though you might hear a brief, sad howl at first). Around other dogs, Duke does great as long as there’s clear respect for his space: mealtimes and crate time are his alone, and he prefers to eat separately with his crate door closed. Outside of those moments, he plays well and shows polite manners with canine friends, especially those his size or larger. Duke hasn’t met cats or kids yet but is open to polite introductions—he’s done well with all people so far and could thrive with respectful, older children after a meet and greet. He needs a fenced yard to safely explore and expend his medium energy chasing a ball or just relaxing in the sun. Walks are a favorite part of his daily routine, and he’s well behaved on a harness. Duke thrives on routine, affection, and meaningful time together. His loyal, easygoing nature makes him an ideal companion for someone looking for a steadfast friend to share the couch, yard, and daily walks. Ready for a calm home that values both structure and time together, Duke brings warmth, devotion, and a little bit of comic charm to every day. This could be the start of something paw-some.
