Hi there. I’m a pretty little Maltese mix named Gypsy. I am about 2 years old, weigh 13.6 lbs, and I have a harrowing story to tell!!!... I was a stray dog in Von Ormy, Texas, walking alone on the side of the road near a wooded area when my future foster mom saw me and started following me. I was too scared to come towards her, and as I neared the dirty Medina River, she backed away. Unfortunately, I ran to the edge and then fell in. At the time, my foster mom had just had surgery for a fractured shoulder/arm, and for a moment, she wasn't sure what to do, but when she saw me starting to go under the water, she jumped into the river with her shoes and clothes and the sling holding her arm in place. She managed to tuck me under the fractured arm, then used her good arm to doggy-paddle us to the edge, where she grabbed a branch and pulled us out! WOW! YIKES! That was a very scary close call for me, but other than being noticeably "skin and bones" and horribly matted, I was okay! These days, I am a happy girl, now groomed/shaved, vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. I just had pictures taken, so I am ready to find a forever family! My foster mom wants you to know that I am a very sweet and happy girl, always smiling, easygoing, and a people lover who is a bit shy at first meeting but falls in love very quickly. I’m good with cats and with other dogs, not so much as a playmate for other dogs, but more of a snuggle-buddy, companion, and occasional playmate for a less-playful dog. Mostly, I love people… a very loving lap dog filled with a gentle energy and gobs of love! I am also a foodie, a very happy eater, and besides loving my kibble, my favorite treats so far are little Vienna sausages and watermelon. I am housebroken, and I know how to use a doggy door. I only bark when I need to alert you, and I love car rides. I am great on a walk with my leash attached to a little harness, not a collar.
