About Baxter
Baxter is an 8-year-old neutered male German Shorthaired Pointer who weighs 70 lbs and brings a lot of personality to the table. He’s completely house trained and used to having free roam inside—a crate just isn’t for him, as he gets anxious and vocal if confined. Baxter is very afraid of loud noises, especially thunder, and will seek out a safe hiding spot like a bathtub during storms. He’s gun shy too, so he’s not cut out for hunting life. Baxter has lived with both a dog and a cat, but due to incidents with other cats, he should not go to a home with cats or small animals. He currently enjoys life on a farm but has a tendency to roam and needs a fenced or contained yard to keep him safe and out of trouble. He’s been described by volunteers as extremely friendly, easy to walk on leash, and a dedicated fan of car rides. Baxter is ready for a change and is looking for a committed foster or adopter near Alexandria, VA. Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin!
