Since January, River has been courageously fighting her way back after being hit by a car. Broken, scared, and in pain, she arrived at the shelter facing an uncertain future. In many places, her story may have ended there — but River was met with compassion instead of defeat. The dedicated staff at Montgomery County Animal Services refused to give up on her. Even with already full workloads and long days, they continued to show up for River — caring for her, comforting her, and gently reminding her that she mattered. Because of their love and dedication, River was able to begin healing, not only physically, but emotionally as well. Through everything she has endured, River has remained incredibly sweet and resilient. She has a gentle spirit and a calm presence that touches everyone she meets. There is something quietly special about her — the kind of dog who doesn’t demand attention, but earns your heart in the softest way. Now that River is finally healthy and safe, she is ready for the most important chapter of her life: a forever home. A place where she will be loved unconditionally, where she can rest without fear, and where she will never be left behind again. River deserves soft beds instead of hard kennel floors, peaceful walks instead of painful memories, and a family who will finally give her the stability she has never truly had. She has already overcome so much, and her future is wide open. River is up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, and has received a health certificate. She is ready to leave her past behind and finally go home.
