About Elsie

Could you use some big chi energy in your life? Have you been searching for a tiny princess who prances by day and cuddles by night? Have you ever dreamed of having an emotional support animal and a guard dog in one convenient, adorable package? If so, look no further! We've got your girl right here. Elsie is a 9 year old, 11-pound chi mix who is truly one of a kind. She may be a bit younger, but not quite sure. If you've ever laughed hysterically at chihuahua antics on social media, then you'll love this dog. With people, she is cuddly and sweet as can be, a bonafide velcro pup/lap dog/mattress back. Her foster family can pick her up, put her down, and take away her food without a problem. She's friendly, loves all people, and shows no sassy "chi-isms" when it comes to her human companions. She can be clingy and prefers to stick with her favorite person, following them from room to room, but has shown no anxious or destructive tendencies. She loves toys, tiny chew bones, and all varieties of human food. She's very treat-motivated and will do just about anything for a piece of rotisserie chicken. Elsie came from a hoarder situation, so she is used to a lot of animal siblings. In her foster home, she lives with two other dogs and seven cats. She is dog-friendly, but does have some chichi tendencies, and likes to be the center of attention. She's an unapologetic self-advocate and will let her foster siblings know if they are getting too close to her or her food. She seems to like having a pack and even shows interest in playing, but she'd do best with roommates who respect her space and can graciously take a correction every now and then. She does very well with the many resident cats in her foster home and shows no interest in chasing them, even outside. After settling in, Elsie's house training has been consistent. She goes potty in the yard and may have even used pee pads in her previous home. She's working hard to learn basic commands and improve leash etiquette and has even started doing some agility. She has recently conquered the dog walk and the A frame and seems very pleased with herself! Like many chichis, Elsie is loud and proud with her opinions, so her inside voice is a work in progress. Elsie is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $250 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter.
