Harvey is a small, long-haired Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix with a striking golden coat, living in Rockville, MD. As a neutered senior male, he's up to date on all vaccinations and completely house trained. Harvey has special needs—he’s mostly blind from cataracts and lives with an enlarged heart and heart murmur that need medication and vet care. Despite this, he remains friendly, adaptable, and able to confidently get around at home and in the yard.

About Harvey

Harvey looks and acts like a classic peach: soft, sweet, a fuzzy orange coat, and a bit on the round side. His charm is quiet and genuine. One ear sticks sideways, the other up, giving him an endearing, lopsided alertness. Harvey is a steady companion. He rides calmly in the car, attentive but never anxious. At home, he’s content to nap nearby while you work, relax, or even sleep, always hoping for a dropped bite of chicken at dinner. He waits patiently during meals, never pushy. Social with other dogs, Harvey doesn’t guard food or start drama. He’s curious but gentle with cats; when swatted, he protests by seeking human backup rather than reacting himself. Soft petting gets you gentle kisses in thanks. He’ll enjoy a little lap time, but never demands it—he’s happy with a few minutes now and again. Mostly, Harvey is quiet, although when he barks or fidgets in his sleep, it’s more cute than disruptive. Harvey understands that outside is best for bathroom breaks, but if you’re gone or distracted, he’ll use a potty pad with impressive accuracy. He’ll wear a belly band if needed and thrives with regular, reliably-timed breaks throughout the day and one during the night. Slow walks around the yard are perfect for Harvey; he loves sniffing, listening to birds, and following gentle guidance. Commands like "come," "leave it," and "no" are in his vocabulary. Harvey has some health concerns: an enlarged heart and heart murmur managed by daily medication and regular vet checkups, and a related cough, also treated. Cataracts have left him mostly blind, but he navigates familiar spaces—indoors or out—by following voices or exploring confidently. He’ll handle a few stairs solo (especially going up) and tolerates being carried when necessary, though he prefers independence. You’ll find Harvey is a low-maintenance, gentle spirit who adapts well and brightens any room. He’s proof that gentle persistence and a soft presence can have a big impact.
