AvailableAbout Crouton
Crouton is a dog who is timid around humans but fearless in his quest for FREEDOM! This clever boy will dig under fences if left unsupervised and spends his indoor time searching for exits to the outdoors when he is not napping or warming human laps. Crouton is looking for a quiet home that will be able to keep him safe, build trust, and provide ample time for lap naps. OTHER PETS: Crouton greeted other dogs appropriately, disengaged and continued looking for ways outside. He may warm to another dog in time but he is perfectly happy being the sole receipient of affection from his trusted humans. Crouton should meet any dogs he would be living with prior to adoption. [Disinterested in Other Dogs] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Someone who has experience keeping escape artist dogs safe and is able to let Crouton set the pace of their interactions would be Crouton's perfect fit. [Some Experience] KIDS: Crouton enjoys calm quiet time with humans he trusts. He warms quickly to people who let him set the pace of their interactions and consistenly act in a calm, friendly manner. We want Crouton to be set up for success so his human family members should be old enough to understand how to interact with him safely, and able to do so without adult reminders or supervision. [13+ / Dog Savvy (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Crouton enjoys exploring outside; he is very curious and walks well on leash but WILL dig under fences if left unsupervised. Crouton would likely do well with regular neighborhood walks, potentially longer ones as long as care is taken to ensure he does not overexhert himself. He has not exhibited interest in play while at TJO so walks may be his main source of exercise moving forward; continued training (either maintainence of what is already known, or addition of new goals) will help keep Crouton's mind sharp as well. [Couch Potato / Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] GROOMING: [Minimal] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Crouton bond with his new owner, build confidence, and learn his behavorial expectations. Further training would allow for Crouton to keep his mind sharp and/or become a trick dog. [Minimal]
