About Zig And Zag

LOOKING FOR SEPARATE HOMES Meet Zig and Zag !! These stunning puppies found themselves in a rural shelter. They very a bit skiddish and shy so the shelter thought foster based rescue was the best option. They were right! They are absolutely flourishing and rapidly gaining confidence after going to separate foster homes. READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE REACHING OUT TO US. We know they are beyond adorable but this breed is not for most people. Zig and Zag are both males and approx 5 months old. They are supposed to be full husky but we aren’t sure about that. (Pics of parents the shelter had are at the end) Zig is white and weighs 36 pounds. Zag is grey/white and weighs 39 pounds. They are big puppies for sure!! They will all be given several sets of vaccines, deworming, a microchip and neuter as part of their adoptions. They start out shy but that quickly fades away. They are both very treat motivated. They are also very sweet and love to be cuddled and petted on. They both love other dogs and loves kids. They have been very playful and sweet with kids and dogs. This breed can have a high prey drive and not always work well with cats but so far we haven’t seen much prey drive. Zig briefly met cats on an outing and ignored them Zag has seen bunnies in a cage and ignore them. However they are still in their shy mode so that may change. Both are good on car rides aside from being nervous. They have been whiny at times but they don’t get sick. They are doing better with each trip they have taken. Both are doing better than expected with potty training but not completely trained. Neither has ever gone potty in the crate. Zag will nervous pee at times but that is fading away already. They are still working on leash training. They had never been on one before and were terrified and flailing the first day. With a safety harness they are really starting to figure it out. The tension still scares them at times but overall they are learning very quickly. They are both doing very well with crating. Zag can have a verbal tantrum when first put in but it doesn’t last long. Zig has been quiet so far. So far they share food, treats and toys well with humans. Both are fed separately from other dogs. No issues seen from Zag sharing toys with other dogs. Zig initially got growly with other dogs around his bone or toys but he’s doing better as he settles in. They both are very gentle with taking treats. Zag loves toys. He will empty the entire toy basket and have a blast. He also loves playing and running with the other dogs. Zig currently prefers to follow his fosters around and chill beside them. He will play with a toy or chew a bone but isn’t as playful as Zag is so far. They both are still puppies and are still in the chewing stage. Okay so here is where the post gets fun. Their breed tells us to expect a lot of hyper, goofy, crazy husky antics in their futures….. but currently they are the quietest, calmest and easiest husky type pups we’ve ever met. Maybe they are saving it for their adopters 🤷‍♀️😂 So while they are calm chill easy going dudes right now we are still going to anticipate typical breed antics when placing them in their homes. ➡️➡️Some issues with Husky type breeds you should consider! ♦️ENDLESS ENERGY! The Husky breed has so much energy. You need to exercise them both physically and mentally multiple times a day, every single day. If you are not an extremely active person and you’re not home often then they will be very unhappy. ♦️VOCAL! Huskys are loud. They bark, howl and “talk” all the time. This is absolutely not an apartment or condo dog. ♦️ESCAPE ARTIST! The husky breed is notorious for going over and under fencing if they get bored. You must have a 5ft or higher fenced in yard and they can NOT be left outside alone. They will get bored and escape. ♦️Please do not get a husky and think you will be able to change their core genetic behaviors. They are going to be active, vocal and escape if not properly watched for life. These things rarely change for this breed despite age or training. (Proper obedience work and keeping up with physical and mental exercise will help tone down these behaviors, but won’t eliminate them.) Adopting a young puppy is a ton of work. They will have lots of potty accidents, chew things up etc. You will need to help them learn things like leash walking, crate training and basic manners. It can be a lot of work but the reward is a dog that fits well into your family’s lifestyle if you invest proper time on training with them. Please carefully consider the time and effort a puppy requires before adopting. Home and vet checks required. ♦️5ft or higher fenced yard required ♦️No apartments or condos ♦️‼️NO EXCEPTIONS‼️♦️ Located in Hampton VA. (They will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com directly with questions or to get an application For more pics and faster response visit our facebook
