Meet Harley 🖤🐾 Harley is a young, loving boy who is ready to find his forever home as a cherished family companion. His story started heartbreakingly he was found chained to an outdoor fence in Fresno alongside puppies and a pregnant female dog. Thankfully, kind people stepped in to rescue them, and Harley eventually made his way to a foster home in Palo Alto, where he has been thriving for the past several weeks. At first glance, Harley’s foster family thought he was a Rottweiler mix, but his DNA results surprised everyone he’s actually nearly a purebred Labrador Retriever! Harley carries a rare gene that gives him his stunning black-and-tan coloring, plus a low-shedding coat that his foster says barely sheds at all. Harley has quickly embraced life as an indoor dog and loyal companion. He is soft, cuddly, incredibly people-oriented, and follows his humans from room to room just wanting to be near them. He sleeps quietly in his crate all night and has even learned to happily put himself in his crate on command. Sometimes you’ll even find him relaxing in there with the door open during the day. He currently lives peacefully with his senior terrier foster sister and does well with both big and small dogs. Harley is playful and social, but respectful when corrected. He has shown absolutely no resource guarding with his food or toys. Harley is now fully potty trained, rides calmly in the car, and walks nicely on leash with only occasional reminders to stay close. He’s still learning some puppy manners like not counter surfing, getting into trash, or chewing things that aren’t his, especially if left alone too long. He’s a smart boy who learns quickly and will continue to thrive with structure, exercise, and mental stimulation.
