Maxwell "Max" is a dear sweet, large senior boy who was found wandering the streets with a small colony. The finder had noticed he was losing a significant amount of weight. He came to NCR in poor condition weighing only about 8lbs on his large "Maine Coon" type frame. When examined, Maxwell had a severe case of stomatitis, an oral infection with broken and rotting teeth which needed immediate attention. Max has been through quite a bit during his time in foster care, it took two surgeries to remove his teeth as the infection was so severe, the roots of his teeth had begun to fuse to his jaw. Both canine teeth had broken off and he had difficulty eating anything at all! After a quick visit to the ER, he remained on pain medication until after both surgeries and has finally come through without serious consequences. He has gained almost 3lbs and is filling out nicely! He is a large kitty! and likely should be 12-14 lbs. Max is a sweetheart and loves his human dearly. He must be in the same room or in the line of site of his foster mom at all times! Max wants to be near or on her as much as possible, loving pets, brushing and has even tolerated bathing without much of a to do. He is purely a lover and will be devoted to his person to include sleeping in or on them if allowed! Max does get zoomies occasionally too! Running and playing with toys like any other kitty! He loves the screened in porch and gets enjoyment from watching the neighbors and birds, instead of having to wander the streets, looking for help. Maxwell is continuing to heal and will need ongoing vet care to ensure his gums remain in good health. Max is fully vetted, neutered and is FIV+, but mingles well with other kitties, is not a fighter. He has lived amicably at his foster's home amongst her resident kitties with no issues. The finder had a dog and Maxwell loved her pet, rubbing against him while they strolled the neighborhood. Max needs a devoted person to take care of him during his senior years.
