Katie — A Loving Girl Looking for the Right Match Katie, adopted from us on 4/22/2026, has returned as an owner surrender. Her new family’s existing dog met her prior to adoption and the two got along wonderfully, continuing to do well for the first two weeks in the home. However, the family’s resident dog became highly protective of “mom,” and although neither dog initiated conflict, they began getting into altercations over her. With no improvement, Katie was returned so she could find a home better suited to her needs. While we’re disappointed for Katie, we gained helpful information we didn’t have before, since she originally came to us as a stray. Katie is fully housebroken, was not around children in the home, and does not like cats. She participated in playgroups during her first stay and would gently correct dogs who were too big or too rowdy for her comfort. She prefers dogs closer to her size. Since returning, Katie has met two new canine friends, offering sniffs, playbows, and even zoomies. A calm, more submissive dog would likely be her best match if she shares a home with another dog. We recommend meet-and-greets with other dogs and children to ensure a good match, followed by slow introductions at home.
