Callie is a young, female Hound/Labrador Retriever mix about 2 years and 1 month old with a white and cream coat. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Callie has special needs due to her past as a stray momma dog—she is very timid and shy, requiring a patient environment where she can adjust at her own speed. She is currently in Gillsville, GA, hoping for a compassionate home where she can heal.

About Callie

Callie has spent weeks at a vet clinic, where the staff adore her, but she’s ready for a long-term home or patient foster. She’s a 2-year-old Lab/Hound mix who’s been through a great deal—after raising puppies on her own as a stray, shelter life overwhelmed her. Callie is deeply fearful and needs an adopter with experience supporting extremely timid or shutdown dogs. She startles easily around children, loud vehicles, and unfamiliar activity, so her world should be calm and predictable. She’s spayed, fully vetted, and takes a low dose of Trazodone to help her settle at night. Callie can’t be outside unsupervised because her fear makes her look for escape routes, and she isn’t yet comfortable enough to urinate on leash—though she reliably poops outdoors when leashed. She’s neutral and non-reactive to other dogs and cats. What she really loves: gentle sunshine, birdwatching from a safe spot inside, peanut butter, and people who let her set the pace. Callie’s ready for a home with quiet structure, patience, and natural light where she can decompress for weeks or months as needed. She is gentle, sensitive, and makes progress in small steps. She’ll do best with someone who will support her as she learns how to feel safe. As an April 1st baby, Callie is an Aries—brave at heart even if that bravery is quieter than most. Let her story turn a new corner with you. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
