Maya and her 5 puppies (The Poets) were relinquished to CD on 1/3/26. Pulled from a chicken coup in SE Arkansas before the coldest days of winter. What follows is an update from Maya's Foster Mom Stacey. Maya is ready for a forever home...... I was so busy with her puppies that I just let her decompress. From day 1 she allowed me to sit beside her, pet her and even pick her up when needed. After weaning the pups she slept for a week. When all the pups were adopted I could now focus on her and she blossomed! All I did was give her time, space and reassurance. That's really all she needs. She now comes to me for rubs, takes treats from my hand, understands some commands. She knows our routine and responds accordingly when I ask her to do something. She does not cower when using corrective tones and obeys the request. She's great with other dogs, male/female, big or small. She loves when we have new guests at the kennel that like to run, wrestle and sunbathe. She's ready to leave kennel life behind for a real home and family. Maya is a healthy 2yo female around 50#. She's spayed and current on all vaccinations. She's a little shy meeting new people, but with proper socialization she'll easily overcome her shyness. Her new home needs a fenced yard, room to zoom. She loves outside and with training would be a great sporting dog. She's also a great hiking/ walking partner and getting so much better on a lead. Maya's dream home would be one with a large fenced yard, maybe in a country setting. She would love another dog to romp with a person/family to give her all the love and attention that she so deserves.
