Jessica is currently living in a foster home. If you’d like to schedule a time to meet her, please contact Wayside Adoptions at (816)986-4426. My friends at Wayside say: -I’m fully housebroken and crate trained in my foster home. -I am successfully living with a cat in my foster home. My home needs are: -If you have another dog, it’s recommended that we meet before going home together. Hi there, I’m Jessica! I am such a great dog and so easy to love! I’m a loyal, quiet, well behaved, low maintenance couch potato. All I want in life is a comfy spot to rest right next to wherever you are. I might possibly be the sweetest dog you’ve ever met. I’m really quite remarkable given my sad past. I choose to forgive and I lean on my resilience as I happily greet each day. I hope maybe you’re looking for a dog just like me to share your life with. I’m ready! I’m an adorable, 9-year-old, 61-pound bundle of unconditional love, with gentle, soulful eyes, the cutest face, and an easy-going, chill, delightful personality. I’m even already fully housebroken and crate trained too, although I’m so well behaved that a crate might not even be necessary for me. I found myself at Wayside after I was abandoned and left alone in an apartment for what seemed like a lifetime. It was such a scary and confusing time for me. I was happy to be rescued and to get the vet care that I needed. It has been a journey, but I feel so much better! My fur is in better shape, I had a couple masses removed, and I had surgery to relieve chronic hip pain. Whew! Lucky for me, I’ve been able to rest and recuperate in a loving foster home for the past couple of months. I’m doing so well! Sure, I might get tired a little quicker than in my past, and climbing up on things is still difficult at times, but I get stronger every day. And Foster Mom lets me use a ramp to climb on the couch or the bed or into the car. It works great for me and helps me to stay independent and happy. Ah, life is incredibly good. Foster Mom says that I’m the easiest dog you could ever ask for. I don’t cause any trouble at all. As long as I have a soft spot to nap, I’m happy. After living in the abandoned apartment on my own for so long, the luxury of a warm, cozy bed is something I will never take for granted. It took me a little extra time to understand the connection and comfort that was possible with Foster Mom. The first few days, I watched her from afar, not quite ready to get too close. After a couple of weeks, I grew comfortable with her and began to seek attention from her. Now, I love to nestle right up close to her for cuddles and pets. It makes me feel happy and content when she gently pets me as I relax or sleep. I’ve learned to lift up one paw in the cutest way and flash my sad eyes when I want attention from her. Works every time! Foster Mom has thoroughly enjoyed watching me come out of my shell and blossom into a wonderful companion. I’m very well behaved in the house, and I don’t bother a thing or require supervision. I quietly stay in my crate when no one is home, up to about 8 hours. At night, I peacefully sleep on my dog bed or on the bed with Foster Mom. Ah, that’s nice. I’m polite and friendly when visitors stop by, never barking at them or jumping on them, but happy to get a gentle pet. One time, Foster Mom hosted a party for many new people, which made me feel a bit overwhelmed. I simply slipped away to a quiet room and chilled, though. I might not be the life of the party, but I’m okay doing my own thing, and that’s alright. We have a fenced yard, where I love to sniff and explore or occasionally chase after birds and squirrels. My favorite outdoor activity is to lounge on the soft grass soaking up a little sun and shade and fresh air. I also enjoy our leisurely daily walks through the neighborhood, although I’m not demanding if we miss a day. I walk well on my leash using my harness, and I’m always hopeful to run into friendly people along the way who want to pet me. I love that! I’m not interested in seeing other dogs during my walks though. When they bark at me, I react with a whine. I’d just rather be left alone than barked at! We don’t have other dogs in my foster home, which suits me just fine. If you do have another dog, I’d love to meet them before going home together, to make sure that we’re a good match. I prefer to simply coexist, and I’m not interested in playing. I’m curious about the cat I live with. She’s a new experience for me, so we’re taking things slowly and she mostly avoids me. I have fully made myself right at home in foster! I hope that I can find a quiet, peaceful home with loving, kind people to live the rest of my life. That’s enough for me. And it’s all I’ve ever wanted. Sometimes the best things in life take time to achieve, but they’re worth the wait. You are worth the wait for me. I can’t wait to hang out with you and to be your constant companion. I can’t wait to be your dog. Love, Jessica
