About Remy

Meet Remy! Remy is a stocky, goofy, loyal Bulldog boy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He is estimated to be around 3 years old and weighing just under 60 pounds, Remy came from a tough beginning after being found wandering near a homeless encampment in Downey suffering from severe mange. Nobody ever came forward to claim him, but despite whatever he’s been through, Remy has held onto his love for people and his desire to bond deeply with his humans. Today, Remy is vaccinated, neutered, feeling great physically, and ready to find the right home that understands and appreciates bulldogs for exactly who they are a little stubborn, a little rough around the edges, and completely lovable. Remy absolutely loves car rides, walks, rolling around in the grass, cuddling, and wrestling around with his people. When he gets excited, he has a habit of happily barreling into your legs and announcing his joy with enthusiastic bulldog barks. He’s affectionate, loyal, entertaining, and full of character. He forms strong attachments quickly and becomes very devoted to his people. Because of that, Remy is looking for an experienced, bulldog-savvy home that can provide structure, boundaries, and responsible management. He can be protective once bonded, and while he does great with most people, he has shown discomfort toward certain strangers without a clear pattern. He has been completely fine during veterinary visits and enjoys attention from people he trusts. Remy would do best as the only dog in the home. While he can ignore or coexist with some dogs, he has also shown resource guarding behaviors and has been selective with larger dogs. Because of this, we feel he will be happiest and safest in a home where he doesn’t have to share his space or people with other dogs. He barely notices cats and has shown little interest in them. Due to his size, strength, and guarding tendencies around other animals, Remy is also looking for an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy teens. Remy recently had a burr removed from between his eyelids and is expected to make a full recovery. He still carries a few scars and some rough skin from his past, but he’s healthy, gaining weight, and learning what it means to simply be loved and safe. He’s not a dog park dog, and he’s not trying to be. Remy is looking for his person as someone who understands that rescue dogs sometimes come with history, quirks, and layers, but also incredible loyalty and love. In the right home, Remy is going to be an amazingly devoted companion.
