Luna the Dog Luna is a rescue dog found dumped 5 miles outside of Baker City at a site called the 203 Pond. She lived with a dog named Monster and they were found together and were impounded by New Hope. After months in boarding she was placed in the Powder Pals dog program at the Powder River Correctional Facility in Baker City. Luna is a 2-year-old female Husky, with a beautiful black long hair husky coat. She weighs 47 pounds, a medium size dog. She is a friendly outgoing dog by nature. She loves her humans. And she enjoys most dogs. She does not enjoy dogs who bully her and will let them know. Being in a prison we do not know about cats or children. She knew very few commands when she entered the program on March 20, 2026. In 7 weeks she has excelled and picked up 17 + commands. Some well, some pretty good. Those commands are: Attention, Look, Come, Sit, Stay, Wait, Leave it, Down, Off, Stand, Back, Be Kind, Easy, Lets go, Heel, Kennel. She is potty trained. Luna is a high energy dog that will require daily exercise to detune and relax her. She does enjoy laying around with her person. She enjoys playing with other dogs. She really enjoys running with her human. She is good on leash. She can be reactive to a few other dogs. Most dogs, no. This is typically associated with a barrier. Between impound and her time in the prison she has lived in a kennel for many months and is ready for a real home and her own person again. She shows stress at non stop kenneling and lonely nights alone. We understand. When well exercised she detunes and her stress level lowers and she relaxes. This is the dog we know. Loving, affectionate, active, seeking a loyal companion that she can count on for stability and companionship. She is current on all vaccinations and awaiting spaying after being in heat. New Hope will bear the cost of the spay. Please give this dog consideration in your life. She is ready to make it special.
