A low-energy pup, she warms up quickly to the person caring for her and truly thrives in a calm environment. She can be a bit nervous when first introduced to new places or unfamiliar sounds-loud noises like passing cars may startle her-so it's best to keep her close by your side on walks. That said, she may surprise you (she handled a recent thunderstorm with loud thunder and lightning without any concern!). With a little time and patience, she settles in within a day or two and her affectionate, easygoing personality really begins to shine. She walks well on a leash and enjoys a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood. Eileen has been non-reactive to both people and other dogs on walks and has done well interacting with both large and small dogs in her foster home. She hasn't barked much during her stay, so that doesn't seem to be how she expresses herself. While she hasn't shown much interest in toys, she has joined in to play with other dogs when the mood strikes. In the home, Eileen is a quiet and easy companion. She has had no accidents when kept on a schedule and should continue to do well with a consistent routine. She sleeps quietly in a crate in the bedroom at night but would also be happy to snuggle up in bed if you're open to sharing. During the day, she enjoys relaxing in a dog bed or on the couch. As she becomes more comfortable, she'll follow you around and keep an eye on what you're doing, though she's also content to stay nearby as long as you're within sight. Eileen would be a wonderful fit for someone looking for a quieter companion-perfect for easy walks around the neighborhood and then curling up together for some cozy time. If you have other dogs, she should fit right in, as she's been comfortable with both small and large dogs (no experience with cats or other animals).
