If we believe it may be a good match, we will reach out to schedule a phone interview, followed by a video call with the foster home. A virtual home visit, along with personal and veterinary reference checks, are required to complete the adoption process. Once approved, the dog will be placed on the next available transport, which runs every few weeks and is included in the adoption donation. If you are not able to welcome a dog until a later date, please wait to apply until that time. We are a volunteer-run rescue and donate our time to help these dogs find homes.  Ethan is a tiny puppy with a surprisingly bold little spirit. At around 9 weeks old, this Chihuahua mix may be small, but he carries himself like he’s got somewhere important to be. He came into rescue as part of an owner surrender with his mom (11 lbs and we've included a pic of her as well), and we suspect dad is similar in size. Ethan is expected to stay on the smaller side once fully grown. Ethan is being fostered in Austin, Texas and is available for adoption out of state. Transport can be arranged by the rescue once matched with an approved adopter. The adoption process includes an application, phone interview, video call with the foster home, virtual home visit, and vet and personal reference checks. Right now, Ethan is soaking up the world around him. He’s a spunky, brave little guy who tends to dive into new situations with curiosity first, then checks back in once he’s decided everything is safe. He’s playful, wiggly, and full of that classic puppy energy, always ready to explore, engage, and see what’s next. He’s doing well with other dogs and benefits from being around friendly, confident pups. His outgoing nature helps him jump right into play, and he enjoys having canine companions to interact with. Continued socialization with new people, environments, and experiences will be important as he grows, helping him build on that natural confidence in a positive way. Like all puppies his age, Ethan just needs a little patience, structure, and consistency as he learns the basics. He’s still working on house training and crate training and will need a family ready to guide him through that process. Because he’s so young, he’ll do best in a home where someone is around more often than not to support his development and give him the attention he needs to thrive. Ethan hasn’t been around cats or young children yet, but would likely do well in a home with respectful, well-mannered kids who understand how to interact with a small puppy. A steady environment will help him continue to grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog.
