Meet Nellie Nellie is a happy, playful 7-year-old Lab/Hound mix weighing in at about 70 lbs of pure love! After arriving at Suncoast with her 9 tiny puppies when they were only a few days old, this amazing mama raised her babies like a champ before heading into foster care for some much-deserved TLC. Not only was Nellie an incredible mom, but she also bravely completed heartworm treatment and handled it like an absolute superstar. Now she’s finally getting back to doing what she loves most… playing, loving, and soaking up attention! Nellie is the definition of a velcro dog. She loves following her foster mom around the house and always wants to know where her people are. If she goes more than an hour without pets, she’ll happily come remind you it’s cuddle time! And if you happen to walk past her while she’s lounging on the floor, prepare yourself for the “belly rub please” look. She is potty trained, knows some commands, and absolutely loves squeaky toys and nylabones. She’s also a big fan of animal shows on TV — especially dogs and cats — and will stand up to get a closer look! Nellie is a social butterfly who believes every person is here to love on her and every dog is a potential best friend. She would thrive in a home with another playful doggie companion. While she sometimes forgets her manners and gets a little jumpy when excited, her sweet personality shines through every second. She’s crate trained but would much rather be out with her people, and she’s trustworthy when left alone. Nellie is convinced she’s a lap dog despite her size and loves leaning against you while getting ear rubs.
