McNugget has truly come such a long way, and we are so proud of the dog he's becoming. With his family, he is absolutely incredible. He loves his people deeply, does amazing with other large dogs (especially ones ready to play!), and he adores children. He's also a big fan of water-give him a splash zone and he's a happy boy. Like many dogs who have been through a lot, McNugget can be a bit insecure in certain situations. On leash or when strangers hover too closely over him or his family (especially the kids), he can become protective. Because of this, he will need a family committed to continuing his training and helping build his confidence. The good news? He is a very quick learner and truly wants to do well. Medically, McNugget has been through extensive diagnostics-X-rays, bloodwork, urinalysis-you name it. After a long road, he is finally doing better, but he does have hip issues that will require lifelong management. Surgery may be something to consider down the road, but since he's still a growing teenage boy, it's best to give him time and allow his body to finish developing before making those decisions. McNugget is looking for an active family who will embrace him fully-continuing his training, supporting his medical needs, and loving him unconditionally. He may have arthritis and slower days earlier than most dogs, but that doesn't take away from the joy, loyalty, and love he brings to the table. This boy deserves a family who sees him for everything he is-and everything he's overcome.
