About Benito

Benito A184352 58 lb. neutered male, approx 1 year old -This goofy boy is all heart and enthusiasm! From the second we stepped into the yard, he was ready to launch himself into my lap for love and attention. Personal space? Never heard of it. He's a full-body-wiggle kind of dog who comes in fast, gives endless kisses, and just wants to be as close to his people as possible. -He's definitely still rocking those "puppy manners," but you can tell there's a smart dog hiding under all that excitement. Treats are the way to his heart, and he was already starting to figure out "sit" and keeping all four paws on the floor. He listens well to firm but gentle guidance and seems eager to learn -- he just needs someone willing to help him put the pieces together. -New sounds and unfamiliar things can make him pause for a moment, but instead of reacting badly, he stretches out, cautiously investigates, and works through it. Once he decides you're a friend, watch out -- if you sit on the ground, he'll happily come barreling into you for cuddles like a lovable bowling ball. -He walks with lots of enthusiasm and will need continued leash training and a harness to help him learn polite walking skills. He may be a bit too much "big puppy energy" for tiny kiddos right now, but for someone looking for a fun, affectionate, silly companion, this boy is going to be an absolute blast. -Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids *Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt *Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. *Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. *There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. *To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** *The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30 **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
