Meet Chevy -5 years old - 65b lbs Chevy is a 5-year-old mixed breed who has spent far more of her life in a shelter than in a home. When we say Chevy is worth getting to know, we truly mean it, she is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of dog for the right person. Chevy came to us a little over 2 years ago, and at that time, her future was uncertain. She was slated to be euthanized but we saw something in her. Fear shaped much of how she experienced the world, but with time, patience, training, and consistency, Chevy began to show us who she really is beneath that fear. We helped her build safe relationships with humans and allowed her to learn that the world doesn’t have to be so scary. Today, Chevy is board-and-trained and works often with shelter staff on outings. Chevy will need a very special adopter, someone who understands fear-based aggression, respects her boundaries (as she resource guards), and is fully committed to never giving up on her. She needs a confident, steady human who can show her that she is safe, protected, and finally home. Despite her challenges, Chevy is affectionate, goofy, and deeply loving once she trusts you. She may be unsure of humans at first, but if you’re willing to put in the time and patience, Chevy will reward you with a bond unlike any other, one built on trust, resilience, and quiet devotion.
