It was not an easy start for Vinnie, but at Upshot Dog Rescue we stay committed to every one of our dogs — and Vinnie is so worth it. Vinnie and his 10 siblings grew up together in a backyard in Puerto Rico until they were nearly 6 months old. They were never abused or intentionally neglected, but they simply were not given the emotional support, structure, or guidance puppies need to confidently grow into the world. Like all of his siblings, Vinnie came into rescue shy and unsure, especially around men. He was adopted briefly, with the understanding that training and structure would be part of his journey. When that support was not followed through with, we made the decision to bring Vinnie back — because he deserves every opportunity to grow, heal, and build confidence in the right environment. We knew there was an incredible dog inside him who simply needed patience, leadership, and love. Today, Vinnie is thriving in Tampa with one of our favorite male trainers, Zack, who has helped him build confidence and trust. He absolutely loves other dogs, enjoys meeting new people more every day, and even loves the beach. Watching him blossom has been incredible. All of Vinnie’s siblings are now thriving in loving homes, and we know this beautiful boy deserves the same chance. Vinnie most closely resembles a Catahoula Leopard Dog in both personality and demeanor — intelligent, sensitive, loyal, and deeply connected to his people once trust is built. He is a thoughtful dog who bonds deeply and continues to gain confidence every single day. Vinnie would do best with a patient, loving family that understands shy dogs and will continue helping him grow into the amazing companion we know he is.
