Like if REI Made a Golden Retriever but Added WiFi and Opinions At just 6 months old and already 50 lbs, Donny looks like the kind of dog that should arrive in slow motion with a rock song playing behind him, but in reality he’s mostly just a large, handsome woodland creature trying to figure out what every single smell in the universe is about. This boy is athletic, curious, social, and deeply committed to being part of whatever’s going on around him. Going on a walk? He’s ready. Hanging out in the yard? Perfect. Cleaning out the garage? Donny would genuinely love to supervise operations. He’s happiest when he’s included in the routine and getting to experience life alongside his people. He’s got that classic shepherd brain too—the kind where you can literally watch him thinking. He learns quickly, loves structure, and really thrives when he has guidance, consistency, and something to engage both his body and his mind. This is not a background character dog. Donny wants to be involved. He wants to know where everybody’s going, what everybody’s doing, and whether he can come too. And despite looking like he could lead an expedition through the Appalachian Trail, he’s still very much a giant puppy. Goofy, affectionate, occasionally clumsy, and fully convinced every day is the greatest adventure anyone’s ever been on. He’s the type of dog who means well at all times and occasionally approaches life with the confidence of a man assembling patio furniture without the instructions. He’s social with other dogs, comfortable in his crate, friendly with people, and has even been around cats without making it weird. He’d do best with somebody active who enjoys having a dog that actually wants to participate in life right alongside them instead of just spectating from the couch. Donny feels like lake days, muddy paws in the backseat, morning coffee on the porch while he patrols the yard like a volunteer park ranger, and coming home to a dog genuinely excited that you exist. He’s the kind of dog that becomes woven into your daily life so naturally it starts feeling like he was always supposed to be there. He’s not just a good dog.
