Hey there! My name is Rex 🖤🐾 I'm an extremely sweet and charming 5-year-old Mastiff/Black Labrador Retriever mix with deep chocolate-brown eyes and a heart just as big as my 86-pound frame. I may look like a tough guy, but underneath all this size is a total gentle giant who just wants love, adventure, and a comfy couch to snuggle on. 💕One thing you should know about me? I absolutely adore puppies. Tiny dogs, goofy young dogs, playful buddies -- I think they're the best. I get along great with most other dogs, though I do prefer to be the only dominant male in the household. I'm not the type to go looking for trouble, but I will defend myself if another dog starts something, so slow, patient introductions are important for me to feel comfortable and successful. Once I know everyone's cool, I settle in wonderfully. 😌🐕I do well with people of all ages and have such a loving, goofy personality. Because I'm a big, strong fella, I may not be the best fit for someone with balance concerns. I walk well on a leash overall, but when I get excited, I can pull a bit -- especially if there's something extra interesting to sniff. And trust me... I LOVE to stop and smell absolutely everything. 🌿👃 I'm also a fantastic travel buddy! I load up into a vehicle nicely and ride very well. Whether it's a quick trip for pup cups or a big hiking adventure, I'm happy just being included. 🚗💨Speaking of adventures... I LOVE to play. Fetch? Absolutely. Tug-of-war? Count me in. Splashing around in the water? One of my favorite things ever. 💦🎾 I'm medium to high energy, so I'd thrive with a family who enjoys walks, hikes, runs, or plenty of outdoor playtime. But don't worry -- after I burn off some energy, I turn right back into a giant cuddle bug who would happily sprawl across the couch next to you for movie night. 🍿🛋️ I'm highly intelligent and eager to please, which makes training and bonding with me a rewarding experience. Since I was picked up as a stray, the shelter can't guarantee I'm 100% fully house trained, but I do know how to use a doggie door when I have access to one, and I always keep my kennel clean by doing my business outside.
