About Brown Betty

Brown Betty A184363 39 lb. spayed female, approx 1 year old. -This pretty girl is so very sweet....and so very nervous here. A leash?? Not quite her thing yet....it's scary and so are doorways. She currently needs to be carried most everywhere, but we've gotten her to walk on leash a little. Time and patience is a must for this girl! And strong arms to carry her until she figures life out! But I promise....she IS worth it! -When I first met her, she army crawled right over and started giving kisses. Once outside in the yard, I took the leash off she was more willing to wander and explore. She investigates everything as if she's never seen anything before. -Initially she will shy away from pets, but in time will army crawl all the way up to your lap and give you lots of kisses. It just seems like she hasn't had much positive attention before and is craving it. -She was curious of toys but didn't play. The only thing that really got her up and moving anywhere were treats! She's food motivated and takes them gently. -If you have time and patience and would love to see this girl blossom...please come meet her! -Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids *Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt *Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. *Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. *There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. *To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** *The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30 **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
