About George

One of our favorite seasoned hounds is ready for adoption. His name is George. George is an 8 year old Bassador (basset hound + labrador) and he’s the perfect gentleman. George weighs in at around 46lbs, making him a mid-size boy. He’s good with both people and dogs. His foster family has an outdoor cat that he also gets along with. He’s never had a bad experience with children, but hasn’t been exposed to many while he’s been in our care. Actually, he’s never shown any sort of aggression toward his foster family at all. George is not crated at his foster home, and isn’t destructive. He loves to find a new sunny spot outside and take a nap. He also finds real joy in community and acts like a care taker for the other dogs around him. He enjoys a good car ride, walks well on a leash, and isn’t very chatty so you don’t have to worry about any constant barking. Because George is a more seasoned hound, he’s a little hard of hearing, so it’s best to wake him with scent or vibration so that he doesn’t get startled or scared coming out of sleep. He’s both parts cuddly and independent, so sometimes he’ll snuggle with you and sometimes he’ll enjoy his own dog bed. His ideal home would be one that allows him the ability to enjoy the outdoors at his leisure. Sunbathing is important to George and he’s lived a life that has afforded him that luxury. His foster mom wants to emphasize that George would thrive in a home with at least one other dog. He really loves his canine companions and gets a lonely without them. If George had a favorite food it would be chicken. If he had a second favorite food it would be cheese. His favorite place to be is wherever his humans need to stand, and he still enjoys the occasional zoomies.
