A quiet "home base" with extended confinement at first, followed by a slow, structured introduction to the rest of the household, will help Shadow feel safe as their confidence grows. Shadow must be adopted with a littermate, with another kitten of similar age, or into a home with a friendly, social cat, with introductions made gradually. Children in the home should be 8 years or older and able to respect boundaries and use calm voices and gentle hands. Because Shadow likely had limited early socialization, they may always be a bit on the cautious side, and they are not a good match for a busy home with frequent visitors, strangers or lots of activity.
