Shepherd Lovers Meet Canela Canela is a beautiful 6-year-old German Shepherd who is looking for a new place to call home. Due to a change in her owners work situation, Canela was spending long hours alone outside in the backyard. She loves people so much that, in her search for new friends, she started jumping the 4-foot fence and wandering the neighborhood. Thankfully, a kind neighbor brought her in to keep her safe. Her owner has made the decision to surrender her so she can find a family that can spend time with her. Canela loves people! She is a very smart dog with a ton of energy, and loves to cuddle! She has interacted with neighborhood kids, she does well with other dogs with slow, proper introductions. She is NOT cat-friendly, so a cat-free home is required. Canela would benefit from someone with breed experience who is committed to training her. She is VERY good motivated and loves the freeze dried treats. In two days in a new condo setting, her foster was able to teach her not to bark at people walking by. Canela would also benefit from a fenced yard while her family works with her to reinforce her leash walking and her recall. Canela has been calm and non-destructive when left alone for periods of time. She rides well in the car, walks pretty well on a leash, loves to run around a fenced in back yard, and is a sucker for stuffed animals!
