Doris — Sunshine Seeker, Chaos Ignorer, Professional Yard Companion Doris has a very specific vision for her ideal afternoon and it goes like this: you, outside, doing whatever it is you do out there — gardening, puttering, drinking coffee, staring into the middle distance — and Doris, nearby, completely relaxed in a patch of sunlight, absolutely unbothered by anything happening around her. Dogs barking next door. People walking by. General neighborhood chaos. None of it registers. She is present, she is calm, and she is exactly where she wants to be. There is something genuinely rare about a dog like Doris. She is not demanding, not anxious, not filling every quiet moment with noise or need. She is steady in the way that makes a home feel more peaceful just because she is in it. She is crate trained, gentle, loving, and sweet — and when you decide it is time to play, her whole personality lights up in the best way, like she has been quietly saving that energy specifically for this moment. She is still working on potty training, so a patient and consistent home will make all the difference there — she will get there with the right support. Doris also needs to be the only pet in the home, or in a household where she can be kept separate from other animals. She has earned the right to be someone's whole focus, and the right home will be glad to give her that. She is also currently heartworm positive. We will be supporting her through treatment, and we are looking for a home willing to give her the time, patience, and care she needs to get through it — which, given who Doris is, will not feel like a burden so much as an opportunity to show up for a dog who deserves it entirely. Doris is not asking for much. A calm home, someone to sit outside with, a little sunshine on her face, and a person who will love her steadily and well. She is ready to be your girl. Applications for adoption and foster to adopt are open now. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home.
