About Boomer

We finally have an update on the two boys who needed saving, and we are so relieved to share that both are safe in separate temporary foster homes. While they are finally getting a chance to decompress and learn what safety feels like, both boys still need someone willing to step up and give them the forever home they deserve. Darker Colored Boy (Boomer): Boomer has been shy, but incredibly sweet. He was understandably nervous at first, but he has not hidden away and is already showing us little pieces of who he is. He got to visit the huskies and was so excited to see them, and he has also been wonderful around cats, completely ignoring them even when they bother him. He has done well with every dog he has met so far. Boomer wants affection and attention, but he needs a couple of days to settle in before he starts seeking it out on his own. Once he feels safe, he warms up quickly. When he first comes home, he just needs time to decompress in a safe space with someone willing to let him adjust at his own pace. Once he does, he starts to let his guard down and it is so rewarding to watch. He is still learning leash manners and will “pancake” sometimes, but he is already improving. He loves head rubs, butt scratches, and has the cutest head tilt for squeaky toys. You can tell he has not had much experience being a house dog, but he is learning fast and trying so hard. He will go into an XXL kennel for treats and settles calmly once inside. He even has a favorite toy he sleeps with. Boomer is nervous at baseline, and for good reason, but he gets better every single day.
