About Ikota

Ikota is a 14-week-old Basenji/Jack Russell Terrier mix who is getting ready to make her move from the south to New England—her transport is covered so there’s no extra cost to bring her home. She’s a playful, spunky pup who has already shown plenty of personality in her foster home. Despite landing in rescue as a stray, Ikota charms everyone she meets. She isn’t a typical barker, but she loves to "talk" and make her presence known. Cuddles are a must—Ikota usually prefers having a person, pup, or even a security blanket nearby, and she especially thrives with other dogs around. In her foster home, she's proven herself to be both sweet-natured and clever, gently helping comfort the family’s senior dog through storms and playfully borrowing his toys. When she unwinds, she makes for a great snuggle buddy, happy to curl up on the couch for TV time. Ikota’s open, friendly temperament leads her to get along well with other dogs, and her foster feels she would likely do great with kids too. She’s making fast progress on crate training, leash walking, and mastering house manners—this is a smart pup ready to keep learning. She hasn’t met cats yet, so feline compatibility is unknown. Ikota comes spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She’s looking for a home filled with loving direction and maybe a canine sibling or two. Ready to welcome a loyal, fun, and affectionate companion?
