About Phoenix

Phoenix is a 2-3 year old neutered male pit bull terrier mix, short, stocky, and full of personality. He’s staying with a foster in Ft Worth but can travel to your area after adoption. He’s house trained and does well with crate time as long as it’s an open wire crate—he absolutely dislikes the closed, plastic ones and gets upset in them. Left behind at the shelter and facing euthanasia, Phoenix got a second chance and now rides happily in cars, though he may need a bit of help getting in since he’s on the shorter side. You’ll notice Phoenix is keen on being indoors; he only heads outside for bathroom breaks and comes right back in. He’s friendly with female dogs, but not a fan of males, and he hasn’t been tested with cats. His best bet is a home where he’s the only pet or has a friendly female companion. Phoenix knows basic commands but is strong and excitable on leash, so use a harness for walks. He’s a fit for adults, couples, or families with teenagers (15+); younger kids might get bowled over in his enthusiasm. No tie-outs or electric fences—secure containment is a must. The rescue requires adopters to be at least 21. If you’re looking for an affectionate, goofy companion who thrives inside and wants to be near his humans, Phoenix fits the bill. Your new best friend is just one click away.
